Sidekix becomes
more
efficient and future-proof with Odoo

360 ERP is Sidekix’s Odoo partner. Sidekix is a company that supports leading brands with the distinctive and professional execution of their marketing campaigns and e-commerce logistics. Odoo enables Sidekix to streamline processes, operate intelligently, and give their clients a competitive edge. “When we look at where we started and where we are now, the growth has been tremendous,” says IT Manager Yvette Sanders. Together with Marco Verbeij from 360 ERP, she shares how Odoo is transforming Sidekix.

Highlights

Full migration
from Odoo 8 to Odoo 16

Legacy custom solutions are replaced by standard Odoo functionalities.

Seamless integration of Odoo
with WMS and Izzi

Improved collaboration between inventory management, production, and campaign management.

Optimisation of production processes

New setup with reduced customisation and more efficient workflows.

Continuous digital transformation

In 2025, Sidekix aims to fully integrate the lead-to-order and order-to-cash flows into Odoo, alongside financial administration. Migration to Odoo 18 is also planned for this year.

Close collaboration

Sidekix and 360 ERP work together as colleagues rather than in a traditional client-supplier relationship.

Replacing Excel with a robust ERP system

Sidekix employs around 120 people, with many working in logistics operations and the contact centre. Approximately forty team members oversee IT, Finance, Sales & Marketing, and Project Management. The company began implementing Odoo about a decade ago, starting with version 8.

When Yvette joined Sidekix as an IT Project Manager in 2020, the company was working with a mix of Odoo 8 and Odoo 12. “We had a scheduled update every two years, so the transition to Odoo 14 was already in the pipeline. However, our biggest challenge was that our inventory and production processes were still running on Odoo 8, while Finance had already migrated to a newer version. On top of that, we were in the middle of implementing a new WMS, which added another layer of complexity.”

The biggest challenge for Sidekix was retiring Odoo 8, a process that wasn’t fully completed until November 2023. “It took us nearly three years,” Yvette explains. “We had to completely rethink our IT landscape. How do we integrate with our WMS? How do we align with izzi, the system we use for campaign management? How do we manage inventory administration and production orders? 360 ERP was instrumental in structuring these complex processes.”

“Sidekix is a textbook example
of our preferred approach to Odoo implementation: standard whenever possible, custom when needed"

Returning to standard solutions

The migration from Odoo 8 to Odoo 16 was a major undertaking. “The production process had to be restructured to align with Odoo 16’s standards,” says Marco. Over the years, Sidekix had developed a substantial amount of custom functionality in Odoo 8, making the transition even more complex. “At one point, it hardly resembled standard Odoo anymore,” Yvette admits. “That’s why we aimed to return to as many standard features as possible. The further you deviate, the more challenges you face with every future update.”

The 360 ERP project team carefully designed the integrations to ensure seamless functionality. “We made clear choices: Odoo serves as the single source of truth for product data, while izzi is the primary system for campaign management. This clear separation has significantly improved efficiency,” says Yvette.

“For me, the biggest milestone was the migration in November 2023,” she reflects. “After years of working with a hybrid system, everything is finally fully integrated.” Marco adds, “Successfully completing such a complex project is incredibly rewarding. Sidekix exemplifies our preferred approach to Odoo implementation: leveraging standard solutions wherever possible and applying customisation only when truly necessary.”

A deep-rooted partnership

The collaboration between Sidekix and 360 ERP is far from accidental. In fact, four members of the 360 ERP team previously worked at Sidekix. Yvette explains, “Cas and Joris, the founders of 360 ERP, first met here. Fersy and Niall also worked with us.” With a smile, she adds, “360 ERP is our supplier, but in a sense, we’re also theirs.”

The relationship between Sidekix and 360 ERP goes beyond a traditional client-supplier dynamic. “I find them open-minded and fresh,” says Yvette. “They’re real problem-solvers. What I particularly appreciate is their proactive approach. When we encounter a challenge, we can simply say, ‘Marco, what do you think?’” Marco also values the partnership: “We’re always warmly welcomed, also when we’re on-site at Sidekix. It truly feels like colleagues working together, not just a business relationship.” This mutual involvement makes a difference, according to Yvette: “With some suppliers, collaboration can feel rigid. With 360 ERP, the roles and expectations are clear: what we do, what we don’t do, and what we can expect from one another. That clarity means we never have unnecessary discussions; it just works smoothly.”

Looking ahead

Expanding Odoo throughout the business

Sidekix has outlined clear objectives for 2025. The next milestone in their update cycle is the migration to Odoo 18. “But it’s no longer a concern for me,” says Yvette. A more pressing priority is the complete integration of the lead-to-order and order-to-cash processes into Odoo. “We have multiple order flows, and we want to consolidate most of them within Odoo,” she explains. Sidekix also sees potential for further using Odoo in other areas. For instance, warehouse and contact centre schedules are still managed in Excel, but Odoo could easily take over these tasks. “It’s an easy win that will help us unlock Odoo’s full potential.”

Marco looks ahead with confidence. “These upcoming projects will bring exciting challenges. The fact that Odoo offers standard processes we can implement within Sidekix’s specific context is invaluable.”

Yvette concludes: “When we reflect on where we began and where we are now, the growth has been remarkable. We’re working more professionally, efficiently, and are better prepared for the future. And as for our partnership with 360 ERP? It will remain the same: approachable, dependable, and effective.”
